Main Aim of the project:
To eradicate extreme poverty among the rural poor marginalized women weavers through providing an income generation source through handloom weaving and selling of handloom production. (MDG # 1)
Brief project description:
This one year project provide handloom weaving training for 30 poor women in Rangapuram village, Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh. The trainees include 11 widows, 3 divorcees, 3 separated, 8 extremely poor, 5 adolescent orphans. After training, the women working under a master weaver to produce and market products such as sarees, shirting clothes, bath mats, etc., 50% of the income will be kept as seed money to train new women on a self-sustaining basis. During evenings these women are participating in evening studies to improve their educational status.
